Year 4 had a wonderful Viking Enrichment Day. We were joined by a real Viking for the day, Eric, who brought history to life by showing us; Viking clothing, armour and weapons; letting us handle genuine artefacts and animal pelts; and explaining what it was like to live as a Viking in Britain. Eric's knowledge of this period of history was exceptional and truly enriched and deepened the children's understanding of why the Vikings invaded Britain and how they came to settle over here, enabling us to answer our big question: Were the Viking invasions of Britain a good thing? Throughout the day, the children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning shone through.
