Pirehill First School

Welcome

Friends Of Pirehill School - FOPS

We aim to provide you with information on all the activities the PTA undertakes in support of Pirehill First School and its pupils, as well as keeping you up-to-date on our latest news, events and fundraising plans.

In addition, we have set out some information below about the PTA – which we hope will give you a better understanding of who it is and how it works:-

So who is the PTA?

Pirehill First School PTA is a voluntary organisation and an association of which ALL parents and guardians of children attending Pirehill First School as well as its teaching staff, are effectively members. Members are entitled to attend meetings, vote on proposals and make suggestions for spending or raising funds.

Aim

The main objective of the Association is, in partnership with the school and parents, to enhance the education and well-being of the pupils by providing resources and activities for the children as well as augmenting the facilities provided by the Local Authority.

How is this managed?

The General Committee, an elected group of parents and teaching staff, has responsibility for, and supports the administration of, ALL the affairs of the Association.

The committee is structured in a way that provides a framework which can support all the activities undertaken by the PTA – and we are always on the lookout for people to give a helping hand.

Core Activities

Pirehill’s PTA plays an extremely important role in the life of the school and assists it in a number of ways:

* FUNDRAISING for PROJECTS, RESOURCES AND EQUIPMENT

* COMMUNICATION with PARENTS

* LINKS with the WIDER COMMUNITY

Delivering on this broad remit of activities is only possible through the commitment and enthusiasm of our committee members and great band of volunteers, who all work tirelessly in support of the school.

Getting involved

The PTA Committee always welcomes and encourages new members, to ensure there is a breadth of representative opinions from all 5 year groups and also to capitalise on the talents, skillsets and experience of our parents and staff.

Meeting new people, knowing more about what goes on in Pirehill, having a say in how money should be allocated, and making a difference to the pupils experience at Pirehill are just some of the benefits you will gain by being involved with our PTA.

Our meetings are open to everyone, so why not come along to one and listen to the range of topics being discussed – you can contribute as much or as little as you wish and chose to get involved as much or as little as you wish. The meetings are informal and relaxed, with refreshments provided, and are held on a regular basis.

If you would like any other information regarding the PTA, are interested in joining the committee or have suggestions or ideas about fund-raising, please do not hesitate to contact any of the Committee or alternatively drop a note into the school office for the attention of the PTA.

We look forward to your support over the coming year.
