The Early Years Foundation Stage at Pirehill
At Pirehill, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) offers a warm, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and develop their confidence. Our play-based curriculum is designed to engage and inspire all children through hands-on experiences, exploration, and creative thinking. We offer a range of multi-sensory activities that are accessible to every child, fostering a love of learning and helping them develop essential skills in a fun, engaging way. Through play, children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and think critically, allowing them to grow in both independence and confidence.
We understand how important the Reception year is for both children and families, and we value the strong partnerships we build with parents and carers. Our extensive transition programme ensures that children feel settled and confident as they prepare for the next steps in their school journey, with plenty of opportunities to meet their teachers, make new friends, and familiarise themselves with the school environment.
Every day at Pirehill brings fresh learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors. Our vibrant, stimulating environments are carefully planned to encourage independent exploration, creativity, and critical thinking. Special activities, such as educational visits, assemblies, performances, and stay-and-play sessions, further enrich the children’s learning experiences and provide a wealth of exciting "WOW" moments.
We follow Supersonic Phonics Friends for phonics, laying a strong foundation for early reading and language development.
