Our Year 4 prefects are the pupil leaders of our school. They are not selected through a class vote, but an application process is put in place so that the Headteacher can ensure they have the suitable skills to represent our school.
The prefects are outstanding role models to other pupils. They are directed by the Headteacher to perform tasks to help the running of the school, for example monitoring behaviour in the locker area and reminding children of the expected standard of conduct around school. They have all been given a badge so children can identify them and have had extra Safeguarding training should children go to them with any worries they might have.
Our prefects are articulate about our school curriculum and how Pirehill prepares them for life outside of school. They are used to represent the school when talking to visitors and at events, for example at the Stone Remembrance Parade.
This is a very important role for a child within our school and it is used to promote leadership skills and high aspirations for their future.
