Pirehill First School

Welcome

Emotional Health and Wellbeing

At Pirehill we recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing are to our lives, in just the same way as physical health. As a school we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils, staff, parents and governors. Staff are well trained to recognise and support when a concern arises and a dedicated wellbeing team is in place. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable at times. These may include:

  • Loss or bereavement.
  • Loneliness.
  • Relationship problems.
  • Financial worries.
  • Issues at school.
  • Worries about family or friends.

At Pirehill we strive to:

  • help children to understand their emotions and feelings better
  • help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
  • help children socially to form and maintain relationships
  • promote self-esteem
  • encourage children to be confident, unique individuals
  • help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
  • encourage pupil voice
  • celebrate difference and diversity
