Pirehill First School serves mainly the Walton area of Stone. However, many pupils living outside this area commute to Pirehill as their preferred school choice. Providing there is sufficient room available in each year group, this will continue to be our remit.
The criteria in cases of over subscription are, in order of priority: -
a) Pupils living within the catchment area of the school;
b) Pupils who would, in the first year to which the application relates, have an elder brother or sister in attendance at the school;
c) Pupils who would suffer hardship if they were unable to attend the school;
d) Other pupils arranged in order of priority, according to how near their home addresses are to the school, measurements being the nearest practical walking route.
All new entrants will be invited to spend time in school with their teacher. A meeting is also held just for parents, during which information about the school is given and questions answered. Any relevant school letters which might give new parents added information and a flavour of school life will also be sent to new parents during the summer term.
VISITS BY PARENTS
Parents are very welcome to visit the school. It would be very helpful if you could make an appointment if you wish to see the head teacher. Staff will be happy to discuss progress or concerns with you but if possible please make an appointment. If you need to see the class teacher, after school is the best time to come, as in the morning teachers are busy preparing for the days teaching. Most matters can be dealt with by class teachers but sometimes they need to be referred to the senior teacher in charge or Head Teacher. We will do our best to see you as soon as possible.
